The Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary is a vibrant new park and natural area with towering bluffs, spring-fed wetlands, abundant bird life and dramatic views of the downtown skyline and Mississippi River. With the opening of the Bruce Vento Regional Trail extension in July 2007, the sanctuary is now just a short walk or bike ride from Saint Paul’s Lowertown district.
Lowertown artists are discovering the sanctuary as an inspiration for their work and four landscape artists are featured in this exhibit:
All of these artists work “en plein air” setting up their easels and painting outdoors. Their art captures the sanctuary’s natural beauty – and will inspire others from Lowertown and beyond to visit this oasis of nature so close to our urban center.
Please join the Lower Phalen Creek Project for the show’s opening reception, November 7, 2007, or drop by the Saint Paul Mayor’s office to see the paintings any time during regular business hours.
