Please join Historic Saint Paul and City Academy for a celebration of a new mural on East 7th Street. The celebration will recognize the artists and highlight the potential for historically-sensitive renovations to elevate the appearance of the commercial corridor. The event will occur on Thursday, November 1st, 2007 at noon at the Size Matters Fashion Shop (851 East 7th Street).
Historic Saint Paul recently partnered with the owner of the Fashion Shop to stabilize her building and enhance the storefront. Through the Restore Saint Paul loan program, Historic Saint Paul provided financial and technical assistance to repair a crumbling masonry wall, patch a leaky roof, install colorful awnings and paint the storefront.
In conjunction with the restoration, student artists from City Academy High School, a charter school on Saint Paul’s East Side, volunteered their time and talent to paint a vibrant mural on the store’s east wall. The mural represents the many cultures that interconnect in the surrounding neighborhood. Thanks to the artists, the Fashion Shop now has a highly-visible presence on East 7th Street.
