ECO/juice presents: Unauthorized Design...Schmidt Brewery and Island Station

unauthorized design.JPG

What if you could create an entire neighborhood that is self sustaining – within an existing city? A holistic urban infrastructure supporting residential, commercial, hospitality, and cultural uses.

This year they are taking on Schmidt Brewery and Island Station as the site location to create a self-sustaining environment. Take this opportunity to exercise your design passions unbounded by client expectations and budget. You control the program for the site so take the kind of design liberties you wish real life would allow.

The Rules
Teams must include at least one AIA member from any Minnesota Chapter. Offices have used Unauthorized Design to build team spirit and friends have reconnected through the Charrette. If you need a team, we will find one for you or you can work alone if you are just that kind of person.

Age of experience does not matter.

What They Provide
Work surfaces, site images and base maps
Breakfast, lunch and review time beverages
Press releases and outreach to the community and Media
A lively discussion at the end of the day

What to Bring
Teams should bring whatever they need to investigate, develop and present their ideas.
